Las Vegas Black History Month programming continued with the recognition of five distinguished community leaders during the 2026 African American Trailblazer Service Awards Ceremony, hosted by the City of Las Vegas.
The annual ceremony, held as part of the city’s longstanding Black History Month observance, honors individuals whose leadership and service have strengthened Southern Nevada through business innovation, civic advocacy, education, emerging leadership and faith-based community engagement.
2026 African American Trailblazer Service Award Recipients
- Business and Economic Advancement Award: A’Esha Goins
- Community Activism and Politics Award: Dwayne Henderson
- Educator Award: Jennifer Young
- Tyrone Thompson Emerging Leader Award: Angel Lash
- Spiritual Community Award: Senior Chaplain Michael Thrower
City officials and community members gathered to celebrate the honorees’ contributions and lasting impact across Las Vegas. The awards underscore the city’s commitment to recognizing leadership that advances equity, opportunity and community empowerment.
