LAS VEGAS (LVN) — Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft joined the Clark County Fire Department in welcoming residents of southwest Las Vegas to Fire Station 30 for a “Community, Cocoa and Cookies” winter-themed celebration aimed at strengthening neighborhood connections and promoting public safety awareness.
The family-friendly event drew a steady turnout of residents despite being held during unseasonably warm weather, with temperatures reaching approximately 70 degrees across the Las Vegas Valley. Families and children gathered outside and inside the station to enjoy hot chocolate, cookie decorating activities, and entertainment in a relaxed, open-house setting.
Clark County Fire Department Explorers and fire trainees assisted with activities, helping guide children through cookie decorating stations and interacting with families throughout the event. Attendees were also invited to tour Fire Station 30, meet on-duty firefighters, and learn more about the daily operations of the station and the role firefighters play beyond emergency response.
In addition to the festivities, the event provided an opportunity for residents to access information about available community resources and county services. Firefighters and county representatives answered questions, discussed fire safety education, and shared details about programs designed to support families and neighborhoods in the area.
Officials said the event was designed to encourage engagement between residents and first responders while creating a welcoming environment for families to connect with local public safety personnel. Commissioner Naft emphasized the importance of community-based events in building trust, strengthening relationships, and ensuring residents are informed about the services available to them.
