LAS VEGAS (LVN) — A 65-year-old motorcyclist was killed Saturday afternoon in a collision involving a U-Haul truck at the intersection of South Las Vegas Boulevard and Blue Diamond Road, marking the 157th traffic-related fatality within the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction in 2025, police said.

According to the LVMPD Traffic Bureau, the crash occurred at approximately 3:56 p.m. on Dec. 13.

Investigators said a 2019 Ford F-650 U-Haul truck was traveling eastbound on Blue Diamond Road in the right of two designated left-turn lanes approaching South Las Vegas Boulevard. At the same time, a 2015 KTM Super Duke motorcycle was traveling eastbound in the left of the two left-turn lanes toward the same intersection.

Police said evidence collected at the scene, along with witness statements and video surveillance, indicates the motorcycle entered the intersection and failed to negotiate the left turn. The motorcycle left its lane and struck the left side of the U-Haul truck.

As a result of the collision, the rider was ejected from the motorcycle and came to rest beneath the U-Haul truck, police said.

The motorcyclist sustained mortal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The rider has been identified as a 65-year-old man, though notification of next of kin was still pending at the time of the release. The motorcycle involved was identified as a 2015 KTM Super Duke with a 1290cc engine.

The driver of the U-Haul truck, identified as Omar Diaz-Aguilar, 51, of Las Vegas, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said the driver showed no signs of impairment and was not injured.

No additional vehicles were involved.

The crash remains under investigation by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section. Authorities have not indicated whether any citations or charges are expected.

LVMPD officials continue to urge motorists to use caution at intersections, particularly during turning movements, and to remain alert to the presence of motorcycles on valley roadways.
