LAS VEGAS — The city of Las Vegas and Cox Communications will kick off the holiday season next week with the fourth annual Ward 5 Holiday Lighting Event, scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 20, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Cox Communications parking lot, 1700 Vegas Drive.

Ward 5 Councilwoman Shondra Summers-Armstrong will join officials from Cox to ceremonially flip the switch that turns on the holiday lights and decorations along Martin L. King Jr. Boulevard. The annual tradition brings together families, businesses and neighborhood leaders to celebrate the start of the season and highlight the ongoing partnerships supporting Ward 5.

City officials say the lighting event has grown steadily each year, becoming a signature community gathering for the ward. The display along Martin L. King Jr. Boulevard features festive lighting, seasonal accents and décor designed to brighten the corridor throughout the holidays.

In addition to the lighting ceremony, attendees can enjoy holiday music, complimentary hot chocolate and a special performance by the Western High School Choir. The student vocalists will present a selection of seasonal favorites as part of the evening’s entertainment.

The event is open to the public, and families are encouraged to attend. Parking will be available on-site at Cox Communications. City leaders say the partnership reflects a shared commitment to supporting local neighborhoods and providing accessible community events for residents.
