STOCKTON, Calif. (LVN) — A weekend family gathering in Stockton turned deadly after gunfire erupted inside a banquet hall Saturday evening, leaving four people dead and injuring several others, according to early information released by law enforcement.
The shooting occurred shortly before 6 p.m. at a venue on Lucile Avenue where relatives and guests had gathered for a celebration. Investigators say multiple people were struck when the shooter opened fire inside the building. Emergency crews transported several victims to area hospitals, while others were treated at the scene.
Authorities confirmed that four victims died as a result of the attack. At least ten additional people sustained injuries ranging from minor to critical. The ages of those involved have not yet been released, though early reports indicate that adults and children were among those hurt.

The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation and said early evidence indicates the shooting may have been targeted, though detectives have not identified a suspect or disclosed a possible motive.
