She is survived by her devoted husband, Abel, with whom she has shared a remarkable 58 years of marriage. Their love story began Aug. 24, 1968, when they married in Fort Worth, embarking on a journey filled with love, laughter, and the joy of raising five wonderful sons: Lawrence, Leonard, William, Thomas (and his wife, Kathy), and Steven (and his wife, Veronica). A proud graduate of Diamond Hill Jarvis High School, Eva’s passion for learning led her to pursue higher education at Texas Woman’s University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education. Her quest for knowledge continued with a Master’s degree from Texas Christian University, preparing her for a distinguished career in education. She began teaching at All Saints Catholic School, later transitioning to the public education system, where she dedicated herself as a teacher and, ultimately, a counselor. Eva’s warmth, generosity, and profound love for her students earned her great respect and left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of learning from her. Eva’s commitment to her community extended beyond the classroom. An active member of All Saints Catholic Church for over half a century, she also contributed to the Fort Worth Association for Bilingual Education (FWABE) and served on the committee for the Hispanic Conference, TABE, and NABE. As the first counselor for the World Language Institute in the Fort Worth Independent School District, Eva’s pioneering spirit and dedication to bilingual education have made her a revered figure in the educational community. Family was the cornerstone of Eva’s life. Her boundless love and wisdom have been a guiding light for her siblings: Eugene Garcia, Fabriciano John Garcia, Jr., Robert Garcia and his wife, Kay; her sister, Margaret Condict and her husband, Steve. Her legacy of love continues through her grandchildren – David, Austin, Nathan, Kaela, and Gabriel – and her great-grandchildren – David Jr., Desmond, Junior, and Esperanza. Eva’s life was enriched by her friendships and hobbies. She treasured spending time with her best friends, Linda and Lupe, and found joy in shopping, gardening, family vacations, and watching Western TV shows. Known for her wisdom and generosity, Eva’s counsel was sought by many; her advice and kindness touched countless lives. Eva’s life will be celebrated at All Saints Catholic Church, where she spent many cherished moments with her community. In honor of her lifelong spirit of giving, donations are kindly suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association, reflecting the values that Eva held dear. Eva G. Salas’ life is a testament to the power of love, education, and community, leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew her. A special thanks to the staff at Pegasus Landing of North Riverside and Amedisys Hospice for all the love and support for our family during her stay there.
