Margie Fay Houlihan, 102, passed away Monday, Oct. 5, 2026, in Fort Worth. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please make your remembrance with a donation to Mission Printing, 2707 Medlin Dr., Arlington 76015. www.missionprinting.us Margie was born in Houston, Texas, on Dec. 23, 1923, to Clarence and Ethel Spradley. Margie was a longtime resident of Fort Worth and was employed for 12 years by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. In 1959, she signed on to help open FWISD Eastern Hills High School, where she remained happily employed until her retirement in 1997. Margie and her husband John also owned and operated a preschool/kindergarten/day care center for 31 years. Margie was a woman of faith and family, as well as a loyal friend. She was a loyal member of Village Creek Church of Christ. In her most active years, she enjoyed the company of friends in Morning Ridgley Rejebian Book Club, The Woman’s Club of Fort Worth, Club Bon Soir, Altrusa International Inc., and Fort Worth Botanical Society. Margie was a devoted advocate for community volunteerism. Even with such a busy life, the center of it was always her husband and her daughter. Margie will be missed far more than words can express. Her legacy of love, courage, integrity, and enthusiasm will remain with us always. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John Daniel Houlihan; her parents, Clarence and Ethel Spradley; and her siblings, Gloria Lambeth, Kenneth Spradley, Wanda McGinnis, and Patsy Murphy. Margie is survived by her daughter, Darla Stanley and husband, Larry, of Fort Worth; her grandson, Lee Stanley and wife, Kelly, and their children, Jackson and Kendall, of Grapevine, Texas; her brother, Don Spradley, of Fort Worth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
