Internships run for eight weeks during the summer and are designed to expose students to workplace expectations through hands-on assignments, on-the-job training and mentorship from experienced professionals. County officials say the program benefits both students and employers by strengthening the local talent pipeline while giving young people an early start in career development.

Participating employers are expected to offer meaningful work assignments, guidance and supervision in a professional environment. In return, businesses gain access to motivated student interns without assuming responsibility for employment administration or compensation.
