LAS VEGAS (LVN) — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on Thursday officially welcomed its newest emergency communications professionals as 911 Professional Academy Class 04-2025 graduated after completing their initial training.

The graduating class marked the culmination of an intensive academy designed to prepare recruits for the demanding and often life-critical role of handling emergency calls for service. Over the course of the program, trainees received instruction in emergency call-taking, police, fire, and medical dispatch protocols, radio communications, crisis intervention, and decision-making under pressure.

LVMPD officials said the academy emphasizes not only technical proficiency, but also professionalism, composure, and empathy — qualities essential for 911 communications personnel who often serve as the first point of contact during emergencies ranging from medical crises and traffic collisions to violent crimes and large-scale incidents.

“911 communications professionals are the unseen first responders,” department leaders said. “They provide calm direction, gather critical information, and ensure officers, firefighters, and paramedics are dispatched quickly and accurately. Their work directly impacts outcomes for both responders and the public.”

Graduates of Class 04-2025 demonstrated perseverance and dedication throughout the training process, which included simulated emergency scenarios, multi-agency coordination exercises, and rigorous evaluations. The academy is designed to reflect the realities of a fast-paced communications center serving one of the nation’s largest and most diverse metropolitan areas.

As they transition into active duty, the new communications professionals will support LVMPD patrol officers, specialized units, Clark County Fire Department personnel, and regional emergency partners, helping coordinate responses across the Las Vegas Valley.

With their graduation, Class 04-2025 officially joins the ranks of LVMPD 911 Communications, ready to serve the community and answer the call when it matters most.
