Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe Opens After Transformation of Former Harveys Casino

Caesars Entertainment officially unveiled Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe Hotel & Casino in Stateline, Nevada, marking a new chapter for one of Lake Tahoe’s most historic gaming properties.

Caesars Entertainment officially opened Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe Hotel & Casino after a multi-phase transformation of the former Harveys Lake Tahoe, bringing a redesigned hotel, modernized casino floor, expanded dining and nightlife venues, and new resort amenities to the South Shore.

The company said the resort was unveiled July 6 during a grand opening celebration that included a champagne reception, a ribbon-cutting ceremony with longtime Caesars partner Lisa Vanderpump, and live performances at the newly opened Tessie’s Cocktails & Chords.

The opening marks the formal arrival of the Caesars Republic brand in Lake Tahoe and the repositioning of a property with deep roots in Nevada gaming history. Harveys Lake Tahoe, now Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe, opened in 1944 as a small café and gas station with three slot machines and grew into one of the region’s best-known casino resorts, according to Caesars.

The transformation is significant because Harveys was not just another casino hotel. Caesars describes the property as the oldest ongoing casino operation in Lake Tahoe. Its rebrand places the historic resort under the Caesars Republic banner while preserving its role as a central gaming and hospitality property on the Nevada side of the lake.

Caesars first announced the Harveys-to-Caesars Republic project in April 2025 as a $160 million renovation. In a later Phase Two update, the company described the broader work as part of a $200 million transformation. The company said the project included upgrades to hotel rooms, gaming areas, dining venues, bars, meeting space, pool amenities and guest-facing resort areas.

New casino, dining and nightlife features

The refreshed casino floor includes new slot machines, table games, high-limit gaming and a renovated Caesars Sportsbook, according to Caesars. The company said the resort also includes a modern poker experience and upgraded digital displays, furnishings and gaming-floor design.

The dining and nightlife lineup is built around several high-profile venues. WOLF by Vanderpump and Gordon Ramsay HELL’S KITCHEN remain among the resort’s marquee restaurant attractions, while Tessie’s Cocktails & Chords adds a new live-music lounge concept developed in partnership with Clique Hospitality.

Caesars said Tessie’s was inspired by the Lake Tahoe legend of “Tessie,” a mythical creature said to inhabit the lake. The venue is positioned as a cocktail and live-music lounge in the heart of the casino floor.

Pool, meetings and year-round resort positioning

The second phase of the transformation included High Dive Pool and Lounge, a redesigned pool area with a heated pool, hot tubs, cabanas and indoor-outdoor bar service. Caesars also announced expanded meetings and conventions space, including 25,000 square feet of flexible indoor event space for conferences, retreats, weddings and other gatherings.

The resort’s location near the Nevada-California state line gives Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe access to the broader South Shore tourism market, including lake activities, Heavenly Mountain Resort, golf and year-round outdoor recreation.

Connected to Harrah’s Lake Tahoe

Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe is connected to Harrah’s Lake Tahoe through an easy-access connector. Together, the two properties offer nearly 1,250 hotel rooms, approximately 88,000 square feet of gaming space, more than 1,400 slot machines and 100 live-action table games, according to Caesars.

The connected destination gives Caesars a larger South Shore footprint at a time when casino operators are investing in renovated resort experiences, celebrity dining, nightlife and meeting space to compete for regional, leisure and group travel.

Why it matters for Nevada tourism

The opening gives Caesars a refreshed Lake Tahoe resort product under a newer lifestyle-oriented brand while retaining the history of Harveys. For Nevada tourism, the project adds another high-profile resort renovation to a market that relies heavily on gaming, hospitality, entertainment and outdoor recreation.

The transformation also reflects a wider trend in the casino-resort industry: older legacy properties are being repositioned with upgraded rooms, redesigned public spaces, modern food and beverage concepts, sportsbook amenities and experience-driven entertainment.
