LAS VEGAS — Construction is officially underway on a new law enforcement substation in the rapidly growing Skye Canyon area of northwest Las Vegas, a project local leaders say will significantly enhance public safety and emergency response times.

The substation, located near Hualapai Way and Grand Teton Drive, is a joint effort between Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Clark County and the City of Las Vegas. Officials say the facility will allow more officers to be deployed closer to neighborhoods experiencing continued residential and commercial growth.

County officials emphasized that the new substation is designed to improve response times to critical calls while providing a stronger law enforcement presence in the northwest valley, an area that has seen significant population increases in recent years.

Clark County Commissioners April Becker and Marilyn Kirkpatrick, who both represent districts that include the Skye Canyon area, attended the groundbreaking ceremony on behalf of the county. Leaders noted that the project reflects ongoing collaboration between local governments to keep pace with growth and maintain community safety.

Once completed, the substation is expected to serve as a key operational hub for officers assigned to northwest Las Vegas, supporting patrol operations, investigations and community policing efforts in the surrounding neighborhoods.
