Robbie Joyce Tucker – June 10, 1930 – Oct. 24, 2026

Robbie Joyce Green Tucker, born, June 10, 1930, in Vernon, Texas, passed away on Oct. 24, 2026. Funeral Service: 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026, in Independence Chapel at Greenwood Mausoleum, 3210 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth 76107, with a visitation one hour prior in Independence Chapel. An interment will be held 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 2026, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Robbie lived an exciting and productive life over her 96 years, often traveling both across the states and internationally after retiring from her ministry and outreach work. Known throughout her life as possessing a knack for glamour, as a 17-year-old high school student, she won the title of “Miss Vernon, 1947,” and ultimately entered the “Miss Texas” pageant where she won 2nd place. In 1948, she was named “Most Beautiful Freshman” in a play at Mary Hardin Baylor University her first semester there before transferring to Midwestern University in Wichita Falls, Texas in 1948. Robbie was serving as a cheerleader and class officer there when she met the love of her life, a dynamic, witty, and personable twenty-one- year-old preacher, Martin Young Tucker, Jr. Tucker won her heart at first meeting with his clever line: “You have on too much lipstick. I can get some of it off, if you’d like.” They were both smitten and married Saturday, Oct. 9, 1948, in his pastor’s home with Robbie still dressed in her cheerleader costume! (Tucker had been ordained at Northside Baptist Church, Wichita Falls.) The couple returned to Howard Payne University and later both attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where Tucker ultimately completed his master’s degree and was later awarded an honorary doctoral degree. Enjoying raising two sons and a lifetime of ministry together, Tucker and Robbie served in the capacity of associate and senior pastor at several churches, including First Baptist, Vernon, Texas; First Baptist, Lubbock,Texas; Faith Baptist, Wichita Falls, Texas ; First Baptist, Kermit, Texas; Exchange Baptist, Oklahoma City; Wilshire Baptist, Dallas; Alamo Heights Baptist Port LaVaca, Texas; First Baptist, Duncanville, Texas. Tucker preached, and Robbie often sang in over 500 revival crusades throughout the United States, followed by 19 years in stewardship ministry (Sabbath Stewart Ministries), aiding churches in building debt free. In retirement, she and Tucker were members of Birchman Baptist Church. The most important decision Robbie Tucker ever made was hand-written in her Bible: “My Daddy, Mother, and I were baptized Feb. 27, 1944 in the Cove Baptist Church of Orange, Texas, by the most wonderful servant of God, Bro. W.W. Kenney.” Below this, she wrote, “I, Robbie Tucker, was baptized June 10, 1979, by my precious husband on the sincere belief that I [had] made a profession of belief in an Angel Martinez revival in July of ’75.” She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Grace McWilliams Green; her husband, Martin Young Tucker; two sons, Daniel Mark Tucker and Scott Evan Tucker Sr. She is survived by daughter-in-law, Michelle Marceleno Tucker (Scott’s wife); and two grandchildren, Scott Evan Tucker II, and Melissa Tucker. She was proud of her artistic son, Scott, talented grandchildren, and the ministry work that she and her husband were able to accomplish.
