Voters in North Richland Hills said yes to three out of four bond propositions on the ballot this year, according to unofficial election results.
The city will use $135.43 million in approved funds to improve fire stations, roadways and a city services facility. Residents rejected an expansion of the library’s community room.
According to the city website, starting in 2028 bonds will be issued and projects will be completed in phases. This process is set to last a decade.
City council members will canvass election results during their Nov. 17 special meeting.
North Richland Hills voters have historically approved all bond propositions on the ballot, with one exception in 2003. That year, voters rejected a proposal to expand what is now the City Services Complex. They approved improvements to the same facility this year.
Here are the city’s summaries of each proposition, with election results:
- Proposition A – Fire Stations 2 & 3 ($26.3 million): Rebuild Fire Stations 2 and 3 to address age, layout, modern operational standards, and firefighter health and safety needs.
- Voters approved this 55.8% to 44.2%.
- Proposition B – Street Reconstruction ($84.26 million): Reconstruction of 50 streets with low condition ratings, based on the citywide Pavement Condition Assessment.
- Voters approved this 58.44% to 41.56%.
- Proposition C – City Services Complex ($24.87 million): Rebuild the City Services Complex for parks, water, sewer, street and fleet operations to address modern operational standards and safety needs, and provide storage and protection for City equipment.
- Voters approved this 52.43% to 47.57%.
- Proposition D – Library ($10.71 million): Expand the Library’s community room and related improvements to accommodate larger community events.
- Voters rejected this 51.06% to 48.94%.
