Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in his honor to the Dementia Society of America dementiasociety.org Jerry Allen King, D.D., was born Dec. 23, 1937, in Sarepta, Louisiana, to Syble Nelson King and LeRoy King. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, pastor, archbishop, teacher, author, and faithful servant of God. The son of an evangelical preacher, Jerry was raised in a devout Christian family during the time of great tent revivals and sensational miracles. At the age of nine, God healed Jerry of a critical heart condition. As he later wrote in one of his books, he knew from that young age that he had been marked for God. Jerry graduated from high school at seventeen and immediately began preaching the Gospel at summer revival meetings before enrolling at Southwestern Assembly of God College (now Nelson University) in Waxahachie, Texas. It was there that he met his beloved wife, Nancy. They shared a blessed marriage that spanned 67 years until her passing in 2024. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, and service to the Lord, sharing a deep and enduring love and devotion to Christ. Throughout his ministry, Jerry earned his Doctor of Divinity Degree and became known as a preacher of conviction and depth. He believed in the intellectual integrity of Scripture and the importance of understanding, defending, and faithfully proclaiming the Word of God. His preaching was intellectually sound and scripturally defensible, a philosophy he also carried into his writing and the books he authored. At home in Texas and around the world in Russia, the Ivory Coast, France, and many other places, Jerry devoted his life to preaching, teaching, writing, and ministering. His ministry touched countless lives, strengthened faith, and helped generations better understand the Word of God. Jerry’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those he taught, the words he committed to paper, the faith he passed down through his family, and the countless lives forever touched by his devotion to our Lord. We find comfort in the promise of our Lord Jesus Christ and the assurance of eternal glory that Jerry spent his life sharing with others. His earthly race is finished, his calling fulfilled, and the faith that carried him through a lifetime of service now gives way to the eternal promise he preached so faithfully. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy; and his parents, Syble and LeRoy King. He is survived by his brother, Benny and wife, Lois, and their family; his daughter, Jeri Lynn and her husband, Dave; his son, Lyle and his wife, Tara; grandchildren, Lindsay, Emily, Natalie, Zachary, Zane, and Nathan; and their families, as well as ten fabulous great-grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
