45 Years of Trot, Tradition and Community: Join the YMCA Turkey Trot

For 45 years, the YMCA Turkey Trot has brought the Fort Worth community together on Thanksgiving morning for a tradition rooted in movement, family and giving back. This Thanksgiving, the tradition continues as thousands of runners, walkers and families gather downtown for one of Fort Worth’s favorite holiday events.

Presented by Texas Health and Moritz Kia, the Fort Worth YMCA Turkey Trot offers something for everyone, whether you’re chasing a personal record, enjoying a morning walk with family, cheering on friends or introducing little ones to their first race. With the 1K Gobbler Trot, 5K and 8K, there’s a distance for every age and fitness level.

And the fun doesn’t stop at the finish line! You can also enjoy food, beverages, community vendors, giveaways, activities, and a costume contest. It’s a Thanksgiving morning filled with plenty of reasons to gather, celebrate and make memories together.

But the Turkey Trot is about more than miles, medals and festive costumes. It’s an opportunity to support the work of the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth and its mission to strengthen the foundations of community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

As a nonprofit organization serving Fort Worth and surrounding communities, the YMCA works year-round to help children, families and individuals access opportunities that support their well-being and help them thrive. From affordable child care and afterschool programs to youth sports, water safety, health and wellness programs, and financial assistance for families who need it, the Y helps make our community stronger.

The Turkey Trot is one way our community comes together to support that work. Every participant, volunteer, sponsor and supporter plays a part in sustaining a tradition that brings people together while advancing a mission that matters all year long.

Whether you’re a longtime Turkey Trot participant or joining us for the first time, there’s a place for you at the starting line. Gather your family, invite your friends, rally your coworkers and celebrate 45 years of a Fort Worth tradition.

Make Thanksgiving morning count. Register today for the Fort Worth YMCA Turkey Trot and join us downtown for a celebration of fitness, family and community.
