The leaves are falling, and autumn is calling, and that can only mean one thing: October is officially here.

Beyond the new fall vibes, this month is Italian Heritage Month, and the Little Italy Association has everything for a festive celebration. Learn the best ways to celebrate Italian heritage in Little Italy, from events to pumpkin-inspired bites and sips.

Neighborhood Happenings

October is packed with events in Little Italy, beginning with The Feast, hosted by the Busalacchi Restaurants on Sunday, Oct. 11, from 5 to 10 p.m. The inaugural event will transform India Street into an open-air dining experience, closing the street from W. Fir to W. Grape streets and bringing guests together around communal banquet tables for a family-style Italian feast in the heart of the neighborhood. The festivities continue Oct. 17-18 with Galbani Bella Vita Fest, a celebration of Italian culture featuring chalk art, food, wine, music and more. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., visitors can stroll through the neighborhood as talented artists create elaborate chalk paintings and then enjoy authentic Italian bites and wine.

Rounding out the month is Trick-or-Treat on India Street on Sunday, Oct. 25, inviting little ghouls, goblins and witches to dress up for an urban trick-or-treating adventure throughout the neighborhood. Piazza della Famiglia will transform into a scene straight out of “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” complete with a giant 13-foot Jack Skellington, towering pumpkin stacks, and plenty of photo opportunities. Families can also browse seasonal vendors curated by the Little Italy Mercato for fall finds and festive goodies!

Fall Bites and Sips Guide          

As we move into pumpkin spice season, be sure to hit all of your favorite neighborhood spots to savor the best autumn flavors. Wanting to get your fall flavor fix in the morning? Stop by Bird Rock Coffee Roasters, Parakeet Café, and Pappalecco for seasonal fall latte specials featuring signature pumpkin and spiced syrups paired with seasonal bites. For those still looking to cool off, treat yourself to hand-crafted, artisanal frozen desserts inspired by classic fall desserts at Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream, Holy Paleta and Salt & Straw. From comforting sips to sweet treats, there are so many ways to enjoy the staple fall flavors.
