President Donald Trump will make two trips to Iowa ahead of the Nov. 3, 2026 general election.
Iowa Republican Party Chairman Jeff Kaufmann said in a statement Thursday the president plans to be in Iowa Thursday, Oct. 22, and Sunday, Nov. 1. Information on where Trump will be and which candidates he will campaign with has not yet been released.
“I just got off the phone with President Trump. He told me that he will be in Iowa on October 22 and November 1,” Kaufmann said. “He is anxious for Iowans to hear his message before they vote. Stay tuned for further details.”

SUPPORTThe president’s visit comes as many Iowa races are considered hotly contested in the upcoming midterms. Iowa’s race for U.S. Senate between Republican Ashley Hinson and Democrat Josh Turek, is rated as a “toss-up” by political forecasters. Three of the state’s four GOP-held House races are also considered potential Democratic pickups. Iowa’s 1st and 3rd Districts are rated as “leans Democrat” by Cook Political Report, favoring Democratic challengers against incumbent Republicans, and the 2nd District is rated as a “toss-up.”
The Iowa races could play key roles in determining which party controls the U.S. House and Senate.
Though Iowa is expected to see tight elections in November, it is not the only state where Republicans are seen as endangered in comparison to the 2024 general election. Trump, alongside other national Republican leaders, have been on the campaign trail in recent weeks across states including Alaska, Arizona, Georgia and Michigan supporting Republican candidates in the final stretch before Election Day.
The president and other GOP leaders are emphasizing Republicans’ efforts to lower federal spending through measures like the “One, Big Beautiful Bill” Act, decreasing taxes on tips and overtime, as well as the administration’s work to heighten immigration law enforcement as they aim to persuade voters to keep GOP majorities in Congress.
But as many voters in recent polls cite high costs, rising inflation and healthcare as top concerns, Democrats say Republicans’ agenda has hurt Americans. Top points of contention are the continued U.S. war with Iran, which has contributed to high fuel and fertilizer costs, and cuts to Medicaid made in the OBBB Act.
Though forecasters and polls show tight races in Iowa, Republicans retain a state lead in registered voters. GOP candidates and leaders have urged Republicans to mobilize and participate in the Nov. 3, 2026 election, rallying with national figures at campaign stops in the weeks ahead of voting. Prior to Trump’s visit, House Speaker Mike Johnson rallied with U.S. Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, running for reelection in Iowa’s 1st District against Democrat Christina Bohannan, and Vice President JD Vance held a campaign event with Republican gubernatorial candidate Zach Lahn in September.
