Francine Elizabeth Ferrell Martin left this life, filled with dementia, confusion, and disorientation, and was met by her Lord and Savior to begin her new life with a perfect mind and body on Oct. 13, 2026. She had just celebrated her 96th birthday earlier this month. Both the family visitation and memorial service will be held Thursday, Oct. 22, at Grace Baptist Church, 1501 Jim Wright Freeway, Fort Worth 76108. Visitation will be at 10:00 am, followed by the memorial service at 11:00 am. Burial will be at Moore Memorial Gardens, 1219 N. Davis Drive, Arlington, 76012, at 1:00 pm. She was born Oct. 2, 1930, to J.B. and Annie Ferrell in Danville, Virginia. Francine was the third of four girls. The family was extremely poor, as were many in those days. A mere existence was sometimes harsh and bleak. Francine Ferrell and Wayne Martin first “noticed” each other at The Baptist Tabernacle in Danville, Virginia, as teens and the rest is history. They married when she was only 17 and he was 18. Both were from dysfunctional families and were determined to invest themselves into having a great marriage and wholesome family. He was the love of her life; she was his number one supporter in life and ministry. She was a seamstress extraordinaire and a fabulous cook. Many family memories were made around the Martin table. Sunday lunches were a regular tradition for years. Her thought processes had begun to deteriorate even before her husband’s passing. But when he passed away in December of 2023, there was an immediate void in her world and dementia filled that emptiness. She was never the same. Francine was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Wayne Martin; her parents, J.B. and Annie Ferrell; and three sisters, Anita Avery, Justine Barber, and Ann Worley. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Williams and husband Ronnie; daughter, Debra Dixon and husband, Jeff; grandson, Ryan Williams and wife, Katie; granddaughter, Kristy Miller and husband, Shane; great-grandsons, Alex Bagg, Parker Bagg, Luke Bagg and wife, Sarah, Landry Bagg; three great-granddaughters, Meagan Ray and husband, Jesse, Lexie Redmond and husband, Brock, Hannah Williams; three great-great-grandchildren, Cash Redmond, Wren Ray, Banks Ray; sister-in-law, Edith Crittenden; and her sons George Crittenden and Ben Crittenden. Francine’s family would like to give special thanks and deep appreciation to Harbor Lakes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Granbury, Texas. The entire staff showed “Frannie” (as she was affectionately known there) extraordinary love and exemplary care. The family will be forever grateful.
