Fort Worth’s AllianceTexas development continues to be a hub for the growing autonomous vehicle market.
Autonomous Solutions Inc., a company that develops technology for self-governing vehicles, plans to expand its Texas-based office space to over twice its size as it advances testing.
“For customers and partners, this enables optimal support and accelerated deployment of OEM-agnostic, autonomous vehicle solutions that enhance safety, efficiency and productivity while addressing safety challenges and industry labor shortages,” the company said in an email.
In an Oct. 13 news release, the Utah-based firm confirmed plans to build out a redesigned 25,806-square-foot office on the second and third floors of the Hillwood Commons 1 building, located within the 900-acre Alliance Town Center. The previous office measured 11,097 square feet.
The 27,000-acre mixed-use development has become one of the company’s proving grounds and regional facilities and allows it to stay close to project partners in North Texas, according to ASI co-founder and CEO Mel Torrie.
“ASI supports industrial operators, commercial fleets and project partners across the vast region of the Dallas-Fort Worth metro from its operations at Hillwood’s AllianceTexas development,” Torrie said in an email.
ASI developed Mobius, an industrial autonomous fleet orchestration solution focused on serving civil construction, agriculture and logistics sectors. The software provides automation control for tractors, bulldozers, excavators and lawn mowers.
“Automating these off-road operations helps improve overall supply chain efficiency, lowers operational costs for farmers and supports safer, faster completion of major infrastructure and development projects,” he said of the software technology behind Mobius.
Hillwood officials highlighted the firm as the sort of business the property developer hopes to attract.
“After decades of building AllianceTexas, we have a unique perspective on what companies need to grow and the ability to move quickly when they see an opportunity here,” said Ian Kinne, vice president of logistics innovation and investments at Hillwood. “For companies like ASI, that means access to talent, customers and a great business environment, along with the flexibility to test and validate new technologies as they build and scale their business in North Texas.”
The area has attracted other self-driving vehicle firms, such as Torc, Clevon and Kodiak.
“What sets AllianceTexas apart is the ability to grow our company in the same place where we test and demonstrate our technology,” Torrie said in the release. “We can put autonomous systems through real-world scenarios, bring customers and partners in to see the technology at work and have the space to expand our team, giving us the flexibility we need as we continue to scale,” Torrie said in the news release.
