3 Fort Worth-area US House races affected by redistricting to watch in midterm election

The Fort Worth-area U.S. House races for Districts 6, 25 and 30 have been shaped by last year’s Republican-led redistricting of congressional maps ahead of the 2026 midterms.

Early voting for the Nov. 3 election begins Oct. 19 and runs through Oct. 30. More Nov. 3 elections information can be found at the Texas Secretary of State website.

Here’s a look at the races:

District 6

In the 6th Congressional District, Rep. Jake Ellzey, R-Waxahachie, faces Democrat Danny Minton.

The district used to cover parts of Tarrant, Dallas and Johnson counties as well as Ellis, Navarro, Freestone, Anderson and Cherokee counties. Now the boundaries include only Tarrant, Dallas, Johnson, Ellis and Navarro counties.

Ellzey defeated James Buford and Brian Stahl in the Republican primary in March. Minton ran unopposed in the Democratic primary.

The incumbent is a veteran who has held his seat since 2021. Among the campaign focuses listed on Ellzey’s website are defending the Second Amendment right to guns, maintaining anti-abortion laws, securing the U.S.-Mexico border, protecting private property rights and cutting taxes.

The challenger is a surgical technology specialist and vice president of sales at Clarix Imaging who has never held office. Minton’s campaign priorities include making healthcare affordable, ending unwanted wars, a strong border and compassionate immigration, and protecting public education, according to his website.

Campaign finance filings covering between Jan. 1, 2025, and June 30 show Ellzey raised $4.6 million, spent nearly $3.3 million and reported almost $2.5 million in cash on hand. During that same period, Minton reported raising $44,283 in political contributions, had $13,637 on hand and spent $30,645.

District 25

In the 25th Congressional District, incumbent Rep. Roger Williams, R-Willow Park, faces off against Democrat Dione Sims.

The district encompasses parts of Tarrant, Johnson and Parker counties and includes Jack, Callahan and Comanche counties. The bulk of what was formerly part of District 33 in Tarrant now falls under District 25 after redistricting.

Williams ran unopposed in the Republican primary, and Sims defeated William Marks to become the Democratic nominee.

Williams has held the seat since 2013. His priorities include expanding funding for the military, responsible spending cuts, lowering taxes, immigration and border security, and cutting regulations that hurt small businesses and stifle economic growth, according to his website.

Sims is a community activist who has helped her grandmother, Opal Lee, organize her yearly Walk for Freedom. Sims’ priorities are affordable healthcare access, affordable and accessible childcare, freedom for communities to choose data centers, and to fight corruption and restore accountability in government, according to her website.

Campaign finance filings show Williams raised $1.4 million, spent $919,362 and reported more than $1 million in cash on hand. Sims’ campaign finances were not available on the Federal Election Campaign website.

District 30

In the 30th Congressional District, Democrat Frederick Haynes and Republican Everett Jackson are vying for an open seat.

The district covers areas south of Dallas, downtown Dallas and parts of Tarrant County. Redistricting removed the previous incumbent, Rep. Jasmine Crockett, from the district and added a portion of Tarrant County belonging to Rep. Marc Veasey’s 33rd Congressional District.

Haynes defeated Barbara Mallory Caraway and Rodney LaBruce in the Democratic primary. Jackson defeated Sholdon Daniels in a runoff for the Republican primary seat.

Haynes is the pastor of Friendship-West Baptist Church and a community advocate. His priorities include economic prosperity, development without displacement and environmental justice, according to his website.

Jackson is a small business owner and community organizer. His priorities include job growth, national security, increasing the Child Tax Credit and ensuring America’s energy independence, according to his website.

Campaign finance filings show Haynes raised $420,152, spent $300,376 and reported $119,775 in cash on hand.

Jackson raised $17,214, spent $16,056 and reported $1,158 in cash on hand.
