Traveling from eastern Washington to Olympia for the state’s Legislative session just got easier.
SeaPort Airlines announced a new air service between Spokane and the state capital on Thursday. Flights start Jan. 8, the Friday before session begins, and are available on Friday and Sunday afternoons.
“Whether you’re a legislator, business owner, advocate or citizen who wants to make their voice heard, getting to Olympia will no longer require an entire day of travel,” said Kent Craford, founder and CEO of Seaport Airlines.
For a starting one-way price of $279, travelers can fly from Spokane’s Felts Field Regional Airport to the Olympia Regional Airport in an hour. Spokane flights to Olympia will depart at 3:25 p.m. on Sundays and Olympia to Spokane flights will depart at 5:10 p.m. on Fridays.
The flights do not require TSA and passengers can arrive 20 minutes prior to takeoff, according to SeaPort.
The flight schedule will run throughout the 105-day Legislative session, which begins Jan. 11 and is expected to end April 27.
The service is part of a collaboration between SeaPort and the Port of Olympia to expand regional transportation options.
“We know that every day, approximately 500 passengers, each way, are traveling between Spokane and western Washington,” said Dave Haring, CEO of Felts Field and Spokane International Airport. “We’re grateful for SeaPort’s continued confidence in the Spokane market and commitment to increasing accessibility.”
