For eligible Oklahoma residents wanting to cast a ballot in the Nov. 3 election, Friday is the deadline to get registered.
There are three options to get registered: online, mail and in-person. If you have a valid Oklahoma driver’s license or state-issued ID, the Online Voter Registration System is a possibility. You will answer a series of questions and upload a copy of your ID.
To mail an application, forms can be obtained at any county Election Board, most tag agencies, libraries and post offices. You can also download a form from the State Election Board website. In Tulsa County, mail to the Election Board at 12000 E. Skelly Drive, Tulsa, OK 74128. It must be postmarked by midnight Friday.
Also, applications can be hand-delivered to the Tulsa County Election Board. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. In-person registration is also at that location.
You can check your registration at the online OK Voter Portal. In Tulsa County, you can call the Election Board at 918-596-5780 for assistance.
Eligible voters are U.S. citizens who are 18 and reside in Oklahoma. People who are 17.5 can pre-register but cannot cast a ballot until they are 18.
Residents with a felony conviction can register after their sentence has been discharged (including court-mandated incarceration, parole, probation and supervision). Those receiving a pardon or commutation with no other outstanding sentence are eligible. A new law goes into effect Nov. 1 that clarifies who is eligible.
Oklahoma has the 11th lowest voter registration in the country at 70.5% of the eligible population. As of Sept. 30, there were about 2.4 million registered voters in the state, according to the Oklahoma State Election Board.
Republicans make up about 53% of Oklahoma’s registered voters followed by Democrats at 25%, independents at 20% and Libertarians at nearly 1%.
