Las Vegas Metro Highlights Community Outreach, Grand Prix Safety Efforts

LAS VEGAS — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department highlighted several community and public-safety initiatives this week, including its role in ensuring security during the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix and multiple Thanksgiving outreach events across the valley.

According to the department, officers from various area commands assisted in securing the three-day F1 weekend, which drew hundreds of thousands of spectators to the Strip. LVMPD said the event concluded safely with no major incidents reported.

South Central Area Command officers also participated in an outreach event for Clark County School District students hosted by the Las Vegas Grand Prix organization, offering students a closer look at public safety operations.

Ahead of Thanksgiving, officers from multiple area commands distributed turkeys to families across the valley. Bolden Area Command officers delivered meals to residents in their jurisdiction, while Downtown Area Command officers handed out turkeys and spent time engaging with families.

South Central Area Command officers additionally joined community members at the Paradise Recreation Center for a Thanksgiving-themed pickleball event.

The update was shared under LVMPD’s #metrointheknow tag, part of the department’s ongoing effort to highlight positive community interaction and public safety work throughout Clark County.
