LAS VEGAS, NV — In a vibrant and historic celebration, Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom joined local Filipino leaders and community members to officially unveil the new “Filipino Town” street sign near the Boulevard Mall. The ceremony, held along Maryland Parkway between Desert Inn Road and Flamingo Road, marks a major milestone recognizing the cultural contributions and enduring legacy of the Filipino community in Southern Nevada.
The designation of Filipino Town highlights decades of Filipino presence, entrepreneurship, and cultural impact across Clark County. What began as a small enclave of Filipino-owned shops and restaurants has grown into one of the most dynamic cultural corridors in the Las Vegas Valley.

“This is a proud day for Clark County,” said Commissioner Tick Segerblom, who has been a long-time advocate for community recognition projects. “The Filipino community has given so much to our city — through culture, service, and family — and this sign is a permanent reminder that their story is an essential part of Las Vegas.”
A Cultural Milestone for the Filipino Community
The unveiling event drew hundreds of attendees waving both American and Philippine flags, celebrating the unity of heritage and local pride. Traditional Filipino music, dance, and food were shared, symbolizing the deep roots of Filipino culture within the Las Vegas community.
Local community leaders emphasized that the designation of Filipino Town is more than symbolic — it’s an affirmation of the Filipino American experience in Clark County. Generations of Filipino families have played integral roles in healthcare, education, hospitality, and public service across the region.
“Filipinos are a cornerstone of Las Vegas,” said one community organizer at the event. “From nurses to teachers, small business owners to entertainers, our people have contributed to every part of this city’s growth.”
Maryland Parkway: A Hub of Filipino Heritage
The Maryland Parkway corridor, where Filipino Town has been officially designated, is home to several Filipino-owned restaurants, grocery stores, churches, and cultural centers. The stretch between Desert Inn and Flamingo has long been recognized informally as a gathering place for the Filipino community.
With the new official designation, community advocates hope the area will gain increased visibility and become a recognized cultural destination for locals and tourists alike. Future plans may include murals, cultural festivals, and small business development initiatives to celebrate Filipino heritage year-round.
Honoring History and Building the Future

Filipino Americans make up one of the largest Asian American populations in Nevada, with thousands living and working across the Las Vegas Valley. Many moved to the region to work in the hotel and casino industry during the city’s boom years, while others established businesses, churches, and professional organizations that continue to thrive today.
Clark County officials have made recent efforts to formally recognize the diversity that defines Southern Nevada, from Historic Westside revitalization projects to cultural signage like Chinatown Plaza and now Filipino Town.
“Las Vegas has always been a city of many cultures,” Segerblom noted. “Recognizing Filipino Town is part of our ongoing effort to honor every community that helps make Clark County stronger.”
Community Pride and Lasting Impact

During the ceremony, attendees shared stories of migration, success, and community building. From dance troupes to veterans’ associations, the Filipino spirit of unity — known as bayanihan — was on full display.
Many participants expressed pride in seeing their culture formally acknowledged in such a visible way. For some, it represents the culmination of years of advocacy for Filipino representation in the broader fabric of Las Vegas.
“This is for our parents and grandparents who dreamed of a better life and built one here,” said one young attendee. “Now the next generation will grow up seeing a sign that tells them their heritage is celebrated, not forgotten.”
A New Landmark for Southern Nevada
With its new signage at Boulevard Mall, Filipino Town joins the list of Las Vegas cultural landmarks that tell the city’s story of diversity and resilience. Visitors and residents can now easily find the area by its official name — a lasting tribute to the Filipino community’s contributions and continued vibrancy in Clark County.
As the festivities concluded, the message was clear: Filipino Town isn’t just a name on a sign — it’s a living, growing symbol of community, pride, and shared identity in the heart of Las Vegas.
