Armed Suspect in Tactical Gear Robs Summerlin-Area Casino; LVMPD Releases Surveillance Images

LAS VEGAS — Detectives with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department are searching for a masked gunman who robbed a Summerlin-area casino at gunpoint late Thursday night, fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash after entering the property dressed in tactical gear and impersonating security personnel.

The robbery occurred around 10:29 p.m. on November 13, 2025, at a casino in the 200 block of Rampart Boulevard, an area surrounded by residential neighborhoods, retail centers, and some of the busiest casino properties in western Las Vegas. According to LVMPD, the incident unfolded quickly, with the suspect moving directly from the parking garage into the building before confronting a cashier at gunpoint.

Suspect Wore Security Jacket, Helmet, Sunglasses, and Face Covering

Investigators say the suspect was a male of unknown race whose identity was concealed behind multiple layers of tactical-style clothing and disguise. Surveillance images released by LVMPD show the man wearing a ballistic-style helmet, blue reflective sunglasses, a black face covering, gloves, and a blue-and-yellow security-style jacket with “SECURITY” printed across the back.

Police say the suspect walked onto the property, entered through a parking garage entrance, and headed straight toward the casino’s cashier area. Once inside the property, he approached a cashier’s cage and produced what appeared to be an AR-style rifle, pointing it at an employee and demanding money.

The cashier complied with the gunman’s commands. No injuries were reported during the confrontation, and the suspect immediately left the casino the same way he arrived—on foot through the parking garage.

Detectives Believe Robbery Was Planned and Targeted

LVMPD Commercial Robbery detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation. Based on the clothing, equipment, and movements of the suspect, detectives believe the robbery was planned in advance rather than spontaneous.

“Anytime a suspect uses tactical gear and impersonates security, that suggests planning, preparation, and an attempt to obscure their identity,” one department source familiar with casino-related robberies said in general terms. “Casinos are heavily surveilled environments. Walking in with a helmet, a mask, and a security jacket is not accidental.”

The suspect’s jacket — similar to what security guards wear in certain commercial properties — is unusual in casino robberies. Investigators are working to determine whether the jacket is legitimate security apparel or a replica purchased online. Detectives are also reviewing whether the suspect may have previously scouted the property or monitored security routines.

Casino Robberies Remain a High Priority for LVMPD

Robberies involving Las Vegas casinos are relatively rare compared to overall crime totals, but they carry significant risk because of the volume of cash handled inside the properties. LVMPD traditionally assigns specialized units to casino and commercial investigations, and the Commercial Robbery Section is trained to respond quickly to incidents involving firearms.

The department has investigated multiple robbery attempts over the years involving disguises, replica firearms, and rapid escape routes. However, a suspect impersonating a security officer while carrying an AR-style weapon is a more extreme example of pre-planned casino crime.

Detectives are now reviewing parking garage footage, entry and exit timestamps, employee statements, and vehicle movements around the time of the incident. Casinos often deploy a combination of fixed and PTZ cameras, license-plate readers, and secure-access checkpoints, giving investigators multiple avenues to track the suspect’s route.

Police Ask Public for Help Identifying Suspect

LVMPD is urging anyone who recognizes the suspect’s distinctive clothing — particularly the blue-and-yellow security jacket or the ballistic helmet — to come forward.

The department has also released clear surveillance images showing the suspect both entering and exiting the garage, hoping that the public may recognize the individual’s posture, build, or gear.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact LVMPD’s Robbery Section at 702-828-3591 or email [email protected].

Casinos Reviewing Security Measures

Following the robbery, several Summerlin-area casino operators are reviewing perimeter access points, garage patrols, and employee safety protocols. While police have not announced whether they believe the suspect had inside knowledge, the direct path taken — from garage to cash cage and back — indicates the individual may have been familiar with the layout or typical foot traffic patterns.

In most casino environments, cashiers are protected by reinforced glass, controlled-access doors, and 24/7 surveillance. This incident underscores the fact that even highly secured gaming floors can remain vulnerable to armed suspects who disguise themselves as employees or contractors.

Community Impact and Ongoing Concerns

Residents who frequent the Summerlin corridor expressed concern online following the release of the surveillance photos, with many noting the proximity of the casino to neighborhoods, restaurants, and retail areas.

The use of tactical gear and a rifle-style weapon during the robbery has heightened public interest in the case. LVMPD emphasized that the suspect has not been identified and should be considered armed and dangerous.

As the investigation continues, detectives are working to trace the suspect’s movements before and after the robbery, identify the make and model of the rifle, and determine whether the gun was authentic or a replica. Police have not disclosed how much money the suspect took.

Investigation Active and Ongoing

LVMPD is continuing to analyze surveillance footage, interview witnesses, and review evidence collected at the scene. Additional images or video excerpts may be released if detectives believe doing so will further assist the investigation.

The department urges anyone with information — no matter how minor it may seem — to contact investigators.
