LAS VEGAS — The Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (NFR) officially returned to Las Vegas on Thursday, launching a milestone celebration as the prestigious event marks its 40th anniversary in Southern Nevada.

Running from Dec. 4–13, the 2025 NFR transforms the valley into a multi-day festival of rodeo competition, Western culture, and tourism-driven economic activity. While events are hosted across the region, the Thomas & Mack Center at UNLV remains the epicenter, drawing thousands of fans daily for the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association’s (PRCA) premier championship.

Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson and Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo joined organizers and PRCA leaders at the event’s opening news conference, highlighting four decades of success and the rodeo’s deep economic and cultural ties to Las Vegas.

NFR’s Impact Since 1985

Originally brought to Las Vegas in 1985, the National Finals Rodeo quickly became a major early-December tourism driver, boosting local hotels, restaurants, small businesses, and entertainment venues during what historically was a quieter period before the holidays.

County officials emphasized that NFR remains one of Las Vegas’ most economically beneficial recurring events, generating visitor spending across lodging, dining, transportation, nightlife, and retail sectors.

Clark County Declares Dec. 4 “NFR Day”

To commemorate the rodeo’s 40 years in the valley, Clark County officially proclaimed Dec. 4 as “NFR Day.” Commissioner Gibson presented a proclamation honoring the milestone and the event’s enduring partnership with the region.

Gibson, who also serves as Chairman of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) board, accepted a bronze statue on the authority’s behalf as a symbol of appreciation from NFR organizers.

“NFR has helped shape Las Vegas’ identity as a premier global destination,” county officials said, noting the rodeo’s role in reinforcing the city’s reputation as a leader in major live events.

A Celebration Across the Valley

Beyond the nightly competitions, NFR week features dozens of fan activations, concerts, vendor expos, athlete meet-and-greets, and Western-themed events throughout the city.

Crowds are expected to remain strong throughout the 10-day run as Las Vegas once again becomes the center of the rodeo world for one of its longest-standing annual traditions.
