LAS VEGAS (LVN) — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has released updated enforcement statistics for its Traffic LIFE Squad, outlining the scale of traffic and public-safety operations conducted across the valley during the fall of 2025.
According to LVMPD, the Traffic LIFE Squad—Lives Improved, Fatalities Eliminated—recorded 13,040 traffic and person stops between Sept. 20 and Dec. 16, 2025. During that same period, officers issued 14,416 citations, reflecting violations ranging from speeding and equipment issues to more serious moving offenses.
Police said enforcement actions also resulted in 617 vehicles being towed or impounded, often tied to unlicensed drivers, insurance violations, or arrests made during traffic stops. In addition, officers made 84 arrests for driving under the influence and 207 other arrests for separate criminal offenses discovered during enforcement operations.
LVMPD officials stressed that the enforcement figures are directly tied to a broader public-safety concern: 160 people have died on roadways within the department’s jurisdiction so far in 2025. That number includes fatalities involving impaired driving, excessive speed, and inattentive driving—factors police continue to identify as leading contributors to deadly crashes.
The Traffic LIFE Squad was launched earlier this year as a focused enforcement initiative aimed at reducing serious injuries and fatalities by increasing officer visibility, conducting proactive stops, and targeting high-risk driving behaviors. The unit operates in addition to routine patrol and traffic bureau operations, concentrating resources during periods of increased roadway risk, including weekends, nighttime hours, and holiday travel periods.
As the holiday season continues, LVMPD urged drivers to take extra precautions, emphasizing sober driving, obeying posted speed limits, and remaining attentive behind the wheel. Police warned that enforcement efforts will remain active throughout the remainder of the year as part of the department’s ongoing strategy to curb preventable traffic deaths.
Anyone who observes dangerous driving behavior is encouraged to contact local authorities so officers can intervene before a crash occurs.
