Beginning Feb. 2, 2026, Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, Clark County, and the Las Vegas, Henderson and North Las Vegas Justice Courts are expanding the Eviction Diversion Program to help seniors 62+ and SSI recipients with disabilities avoid eviction through rental assistance, legal representation, and long-term housing solutions.

LAS VEGAS — Beginning February 2, 2026, the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, in partnership with Clark County and the Las Vegas, Henderson, and North Las Vegas Justice Courts, will expand the Eviction Diversion Program, increasing access to rental assistance and legal protections for vulnerable tenants facing eviction.

The expansion is backed by funding approved by the 2025 Nevada Legislature and is designed to create a more uniform, court-coordinated approach to eviction prevention across Southern Nevada. Program officials describe the initiative as the first of its kind in Nevada, combining financial assistance, legal representation, and housing stabilization resources into a single diversion pathway.

Focus on Seniors and Disabled Residents

The expanded program prioritizes:

  • Seniors age 62 and older, and
  • Individuals receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) due to a disability

To qualify, tenants must be facing eviction for non-payment of rent only and must file a tenant’s answer within the required notice period. Filing a timely answer is a critical requirement and preserves a tenant’s eligibility for diversion review and assistance.

Services Offered Through the Program

Eligible participants may receive:

  • Rental assistance to resolve past-due rent
  • Legal representation or legal support during eviction proceedings
  • Access to long-term housing solutions aimed at preventing repeat housing instability

Program data shows the Eviction Diversion Program has maintained a nearly 90% success rate, with most participating households avoiding eviction and remaining housed. Officials say the expansion is intended to further reduce homelessness, protect fixed-income residents, and improve court efficiency by resolving eligible cases outside of forced displacement.

Standardized Court Forms Now Available

As part of the expansion, new, uniform eviction forms are now in use across participating justice courts. The standardized forms are available through the Civil Law Self-Help Center and are designed to:

  • Improve clarity for tenants
  • Reduce filing errors
  • Ensure consistency across jurisdictions
  • Clearly outline deadlines and eligibility requirements
