Under the updated procedure, voters will continue to check in and cast their selections using ballot marking devices, the same technology used in recent elections. After completing their choices, however, voters will now receive a printed paper ballot reflecting their selections. Voters will be able to review the ballot for accuracy before submitting it into newly deployed tabulation machines.
Election officials say the change aligns Clark County with updated statewide security standards and national best practices for election administration. The addition of a voter-verifiable paper ballot ensures that each voter has a clear opportunity to confirm their selections before their vote is officially cast.
Once submitted, the paper ballots will be securely stored by election officials and can be used for post-election audits, recounts, or verification procedures if required.
