Clark County Honors New Kids on the Block With Proclamation and Key to the Las Vegas Strip

New Kids on the Block

LAS VEGAS — New Kids on the Block received a major honor in Las Vegas on Wednesday as Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom presented the group with an official proclamation declaring November 12 as “New Kids on the Block Day” in Clark County. The group was also awarded the prestigious Key to the Las Vegas Strip, recognizing their long-standing contributions to entertainment and their continued impact on pop culture.

The ceremony, held inside a classic Las Vegas wedding chapel adorned with floral arrangements and vintage décor, brought together Segerblom, an Elvis tribute artist officiating the presentation, and all five members of the legendary pop group. They gathered for photos as Segerblom handed over the framed proclamation and the large commemorative key bearing the silhouette of the Las Vegas skyline.

New Kids on the Block

New Kids on the Block — who rose to fame in the late 1980s and early 1990s with multiplatinum albums, sold-out tours, and global fan recognition — have sustained their popularity for nearly four decades. Their enduring career, combined with their recent and highly successful Las Vegas residency, The Right Stuff, made them a natural fit for one of Clark County’s highest ceremonial honors.

Segerblom highlighted the group’s generational influence, strong connection with fans, and their ability to continuously reinvent their live performances, particularly in Las Vegas. The commissioner’s proclamation formally marks November 12 as a day recognizing their achievements, legacy, and contributions to the entertainment landscape of Southern Nevada.

During the presentation, members of the group held individually boxed honorary keys and posed for photos with Segerblom and the Elvis tribute performer, who stood alongside them as they celebrated the moment. The wedding-chapel setting provided a distinctly Las Vegas backdrop, blending the city’s showmanship with its tradition of honoring major entertainers who leave a lasting mark on the Strip.

New Kids on the Block’s Las Vegas residency has played a central role in their current visibility, drawing longtime fans and new audiences to the city. Their performances have become a highlight on the Strip, further cementing their status as influential figures in modern pop music.

With the proclamation and ceremonial key now officially bestowed, the group joins a select roster of artists and cultural figures recognized by Clark County for their contributions to the community and the city’s entertainment identity.
