Las Vegas (Las Vegas News) — A domestic violence investigation in Las Vegas escalated into a multi-vehicle crash and foot pursuit before ending with the suspect’s arrest, aided in part by two civilians who intervened, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

The incident unfolded on March 10 after officers responded to a reported domestic violence call involving allegations of strangulation. Police said the suspect fled before officers could detain him, prompting an active search and coordinated response.

LVMPD’s Air Unit located the suspect’s vehicle from above and tracked his movements as he drove erratically through streets near West Desert Inn Road and South Decatur Boulevard. Authorities said the suspect’s driving posed a significant risk to the public as the situation developed.

The pursuit came to a sudden end when the suspect crashed, involving multiple vehicles. Police said approximately five vehicles were impacted in the collision, though the extent of injuries, if any, has not been publicly detailed.

After the crash, the suspect exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Video released by LVMPD shows the suspect running before being confronted by individuals in the area.

Two civilians who witnessed the incident used their vehicles to help block the suspect’s path, effectively limiting his ability to escape. The video then shows the individuals physically restraining the suspect on the ground, holding him in place until officers arrived and took him into custody.

Authorities credited the combined efforts of aerial surveillance, ground response, and community involvement for preventing the situation from escalating further.

“This video highlights how coordination from the air, rapid response on the ground, and the courage of community members can make all the difference,” LVMPD said in a statement accompanying the footage.

Police have not released the suspect’s identity or specific charges as of this report. Details about the initial domestic violence incident, including the condition of the reported victim, have also not been disclosed.

The department reminded residents that while community awareness is important, individuals should prioritize their own safety and contact law enforcement rather than intervene in potentially dangerous situations.

The investigation remains ongoing.
