City of Las Vegas Celebrates Día de los Muertos at Carolyn G. Goodman Plaza — Free Family Festival Nov. 1

Día de los Muertos Festival — City of Las Vegas 2025 (Original Wide Scene)

LAS VEGAS (Oct. 2025) — The city of Las Vegas will host its annual Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Carolyn G. Goodman Plaza in the Las Vegas Civic Center, located at 525 S. Main St.

Annual Day of the Dead event features live music, ofrenda contest, artisan vendors, and children’s activities downtown

The free, family-friendly festival invites residents and visitors to honor loved ones who have passed while enjoying live entertainment, food trucks, artisan vendors, and hands-on children’s art activities. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and low-back chairs for comfort on the plaza lawn.

“This event celebrates remembrance and joy — it’s one of the city’s most colorful cultural traditions,” said event organizers. “We welcome everyone to come experience the music, food, and artistry that make Día de los Muertos so meaningful.”

An ofrenda (altar) contest will feature creative tributes adorned with sugar skulls, marigolds, candles, and photographs of departed family members — traditional symbols representing life, remembrance, and celebration.

Cultural Tradition and Community Connection

Día de los Muertos is celebrated primarily in central and southern Mexico on Nov. 1–2. The holiday blends ancient indigenous rituals with contemporary expressions of remembrance, using ofrendas to honor those who have passed on.

The tradition has grown in popularity across the United States — including Las Vegas — as a joyful and reflective way for families to connect with their heritage and celebrate the lives of their ancestors.
