Howard Heckethorn Elementary students donate toys

Students at Howard Heckethorn Elementary School donated toys through a partnership with Las Vegas Fire & Rescue to support children in need during the holiday season.

LAS VEGAS (LVN) — Las Vegas Fire & Rescue recognized Howard Heckethorn Elementary School for organizing a campus-wide toy drive that highlighted the school’s commitment to community service and seasonal giving.

Fire officials said students and staff at the elementary school demonstrated generosity and civic pride by collecting toys for children in need during the holiday season. The donations will be distributed by the Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation, which supports burn survivors and families across Southern Nevada.

The effort reflects a broader emphasis on service learning within the Clark County School District, where schools frequently partner with local agencies and nonprofits to support community causes. Fire officials thanked the students for their participation and said the toys will help bring comfort and joy to children during the holidays.

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue continues to collaborate with local schools and community partners on outreach initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable residents throughout the year.
